Ishan Kishan became the 4th Indian batsmen to score a 200 in ODI cricket when he went past the mark in the third match against Bangladesh here on Saturday (December 10).
He would soon bring India’s highest individual score against Bangladesh, surpassing Virender Sehwag’s 175 in Mirpur in 2011.
Ishan Kishan then had his sights on a landmark double century and would bring up the feat in the 35th over in only 126 balls. His knock was only the 9th double century in the history of ODI cricket and he would become the fourth Indian to do so. It was also the fastest double century in ODI cricket.
The illustrious list of double centurions in ODI cricket includes Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Fakhar Zaman.
His knock of 210 off 131 deliveries would finally be brought to an end by Taskin Ahmed in 36th over, becoming the sixth highest score in the history of ODI cricket.
His knock has set up India to post a mammoth total of 409/8 in the contest. Bangladesh currently have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
